The presentations were opened by the Acting rector of VUC Kārlis Krēsliņš, he was followed by an accomplished VUC scientific activist Gundars Korāts who was presenting the idea of creating the first computer vision sports laboratory which will help to introduce and develop innovative, computer vision and artificial intellect based solutions for sports analytics. The IT company TestDevLAb was presented by Kristaps Skutelis and in his presentation he stressed that the most demanded specialists who are employed in the company are students of Ventspils University College. One of the speakers was also the first VUC graduate Voldemārs Brēdiķis who has become a successful businessman and also proven himself in the international arena.
While presenting VIRAC, the contribution to the national economy while developing the unique scientific center and promoting attraction of highly qualified personnel was highlighted, as well as there was a debate on the need for funding and the shortcoming in its provision. The president also was presented to the most recent achievements and discoveries of VIRAC scientists and researchers.
The president expressed appreciation to VUC and VIRAC’ s contribution to the region’s development and wished them to continue to evolve, becoming an internationally acknowledged science centre.
