On 10 September 2018, by signing the acceptance certificate on the completion of works, the repair works of the radio telescope RT-32, which started in the summer of 2018, have been successfully completed - a safety ladder has been created in the upper part of the RT-32 support grid of the telescope, anti-corrosion treatment of the inner surfaces of the RT-32 support grid pipes was put, as well as surface cleaning, anti-corrosion treatment and surface painting of the RT-32 support grid base pipes has been done. Upon completion of the works, the planned results are achieved in 3 planned activities, within the project No. 1.1.1.4/17/I/010 "3rd Round of Modernization of Irbene Radio Telescope Complex".
The repairs were completed on schedule and within the deadlines set in the contracts. The construction works were performed by Ltd. “Akro” and the total contract price (excluding VAT) was EUR 167,752.80. Construction supervision at the facility was performed by Ltd. “Built EX”, the total amount for construction supervision was EUR 3,900. The documentation is still being arranged, which must be completed by 30 November 2018, in accordance with the terms of the agreement.
The completed construction works will significantly improve the resistance of the radio telescope RT-32 metal support structure against the effects of the external environment, as well as improve the working environment of VIRAC engineering staff.
