Within the framework of the DrauGen project a 3D construction of an inductor type generator has been created

nov. 29, 2019

Within the framework of the project "Environmentally Friendly Small Power Generator with the Rotor Linear Motion (DrauGen)" No. 1.1.1.1/18/A/125 a 3D construction of an inductor type generator has been created. To design this structure SolidWorks software, which allows making 3D models, was used. SolidWorks software, which allows making 3D models, was used to design this structure. The construction of the generator consists of a fixed inductor with a permanent magnet, windings and a rotor, which is made of non-magnetic material, except for magnetic contactors (switching elements). The rotor moves perpendicular to the lines of the magnetic field, and the movement results in a pulsating magnetic field, which results in the appearance of an electric motor in the windings.

Mathematical 3D model of the magnetic field of an inductor generator:

Using the software, EMWorks (based on the finite element method), the magnetic field of the generator was obtained and the induction values in the generator elements and in the air gap were determined.

On photos above - Magnetic field pattern in the air gap when the rotor switching elements are located directly opposite the design teeth in the coil (T) and Magnetic field pattern in the air gap when the rotor switching elements are located directly opposite the teeth located outside the coil. (T/2).

As a result of modelling, the optimal dimensions of rotor contactors (switching elements) (width, height, thickness, as well as shape), the dimensions of the magnet used in the structure were determined, and the optimal air gap size was determined, which ensures the efficiency of the structure.

The weight of this complete structure is 0.460 kg. A generator of this design mounted on a bicycle wheel can induce an electric motor in the coils of about 6.4 volts at a ride speed of about 15 km/h.

Work is underway to process and analyse the results to determine the effectiveness of the existing design.

Based on the obtained results, a scientific article is prepared.
