Ventspils International Radio Astronomy Centre has started to work on the development of “Cryogenic Insulation Thermal Conductivity Testing System”

nov. 01, 2019

Engineering Research Institute Ventspils International Radio Astronomy Centre (ERI VIRAC) of Ventspils University of Applied Sciences (VUAS), in partnership with company Cryogenic and Vacuum Systems and the Latvian State Institute of Wood Chemistry, from November 1, 2019 started to implement the European Reginal Development Fund (ERDF) project No. 1.2.1.1/18/A/006 Research no. 2.8

“Cryogenic Insulation Thermal Conductivity Testing System”. In the course of the project implementation it is planned to:

– Develop a universal system for measuring thermal conductivity at cryogenic temperatures.

– Create a prototype of measuring equipment for testing cryogenic insulation.

– Publish research results in scientific journals.

The knowledge gained during the project will increase the scientific potential in the field of specialized tests and measurements in the space industry, in the cryogenic industry, in the chemical industry, which will allow the development and production of new modern types of cryogenic insulation.

The project will create a budget data recorder with an integrated temperature measurement system for the Latvian electronics industry.
