News in the project "Environmentally Friendly Small Power Generator with the Rotor Linear Motion (DrauGen)" implemented by Ventspils University of Applied Sciences

okt. 09, 2019

The abbreviated name of the project, which consists of two abbreviations, means "friendly generator", such a name, because within the project No.1.1.1.1/18/A/125 an environmentally friendly bicycle generator is being created.

Cooperation has been started with the representatives of LTD CIVITTA for market research. Two engineering teams from both Ventspils University of Applied Sciences and cooperation partner Joint Stock Company LATVO are involved in the development of the bicycle generator, one of which develops the bicycle generator itself, or a device that produces electricity while riding, and the other - a voltage stabilizer - a device that requires a bicycle lighting system and additional battery. for the provision of electricity. A voltage stabilizer is required to supply power to two-wheel electrical equipment at lower speeds than if there were only a generator, and to protect electrical equipment from damage when driving at higher speeds at which the voltage generated by the generator exceeds the allowed.

Currently, two different solutions for the development of the voltage stabilizer circuit are considered in order to study their operation at different parameters and to find out which of the variants works with the lowest power losses. At the same time, work is being done on the design of the electrical circuit. The voltage stabilizer is designed to be compactly inserted into the two-wheel steering wheel outlet, but in a way that is easy to access and repair. There are some USB sockets (possibly also micro USB), which will be located at the bottom of the steering wheel extension and will be closed with sealing caps.

For the time being, the design is at the level of an idea, but since the goal is high product quality, such a device will definitely have to be resistant to shocks, vibrations, dust and water - also adapted for more extreme cycling.
