ERI VIRAC employees, Romass Pauliks and Dāvids Egle, participated in Space Industry Day in Riga, Latvia

ERI VIRAC representatives, Romass Pauliks and Dāvids Egle, took the stage at the Space Industry Day at the National Library of Latvia on March 20, 2019, in order to present overall information about Engineering Research Institute “Ventspils International Radio Astronomy Centre” (ERI VIRAC) of Ventspils University of Applied Sciences (VUAS). Romass and Dāvids stated clear vision of ERI VIRAC, while also providing valuable insight on the background of the entity, key technologies, and competencies.

This year’s event was attended by more than 100 participants from 10 European countries. The Space Industry Day was organized by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Latvia in cooperation with the European Space Agency (ESA), the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Lithuania, and the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications of the Republic of Estonia. Three of the European space industry’s largest companies – Airbus Defence and Space (€2.6 billion turnover, employing 40 000 employees), Thales Alenia Space (€10.8 billion turnover, employing 8 000 employees), and OHB Systems (€634 million turnover, employing 2 000employees) participated in this event as well, thereby presenting their immense knowledge on space industry. Romass and Dāvids were able to meet representatives of various companies like Airbus Defence and Space, Eventech Ltd, Cryogenic and Vacuum Systems Ltd, Vilnius Gediminas Technical University, UAB Geomatrix, Axon Cable Latvia Ltd, Latvian State Institute of Wood Chemistry, Testonica LAB, and Si Femto. This was a great opportunity to establish future business relationships with experienced and successful companies.
